Charles W. Thomas, MD
Dr. Thomas was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his medical education at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. Thomas went on to do his residency in general surgery in New Orleans and became board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1999.
After completing his residency he began working as a general surgeon and has been working with Dr. Divincenti at Southern Surgical Specialists since 2000.
Dr. Thomas is currently a member in good standing with the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Board of Surgery, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. He has hospital affiliations with West Jefferson Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Center West Bank campus. He is a certified proctor for the DaVinci Robotic System and practices at West Jefferson Medical Center.
Robert D. Cummiskey III, MD
Dr. Cummiskey was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his medical education at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He went on to do his general surgery residency in New Orleans where he was appointed Chief resident for his final year. Dr. Cummiskey became board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 2000.
After completing his residency he joined a private practice as a general surgeon and later joined Southern Surgical Specialists in 2006. Dr. Cummiskey is a member in good standing with the American College of Surgeons, American Board of Surgery, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. He is a certified proctor for the daVinci robotic system and is the father of one daughter.
William Steinhardt, MD
Dr. William Steinhardt was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received a Bachelors in Sciences from Louisiana State University before returning to New Orleans to obtain his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center. After his medical education, he completed a General Surgery Residency with Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans. He then he furthered his training with a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Surgery at Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami, Florida. During his Fellowship he pursued his interest in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery with emphasis on colon, and stomach surgery.
Upon returning to New Orleans he joined Southern Surgical Specialists in 2018. Dr. Steinhardt is board certified by the American College of Surgeons, and is a member in good standing with Louisiana State Board Medical Society. He has hospital affiliations with West Jefferson Medical Center, and Ochsner Medical Center- Westbank Campus.
Sarah Baker, MD
Dr. Baker was born in Covington, Louisiana. She completed her medical education at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport followed by general surgery residency at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. She subsequently completed post-graduate fellowships in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care followed by a Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship.
Dr. Baker is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general surgery and surgical critical care. She specializes in colon and rectal surgery, minimally invasive robotic, laparoscopic, open and anorectal surgical procedures.
Dr. Baker believes in an individualized, collaborative approach to healthcare that empowers patients by educating them and involving them in the decision-making process so that they can follow the path that is right for them.
Frank Divincenti, MD
Dr. Frank Divincenti was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his medical education at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. Divincenti went on to do his residency in general surgery in New Orleans and became board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1968.
After completing his residency he went on to complete a clinical fellowship and an advanced clinical fellowship. Dr. Divincenti was also a Major in the Army Medical Corp and won an Army Commendation Medal for his service.
Dr. Divincenti has served on the board of directors for the West Jefferson Medical center for over 20 years. He has also held multiple executive positions with the Surgical Association of Louisiana, New Orleans Surgical Society, Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Jefferson Parish Medical Society.
Dr. DiVincenti has been with Southern Surgical Specialists since 1970. In addition to his private practice, he also is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the L.S.U. Medical center. He is the father of five daughters and one son and is the grandfather of twelve grandchildren.
